Samhradh's Sauna will be based at Dundag Lake Beach in the iconic Killarney National Park.
From our panoramic window you will have views of the surrounding lakes & mountains, whilst relaxing in the heat of our traditional sauna.
This is an ideal place to recover if you have dipped into the lake. The process of combining the hot and cold is scientifically proven to help with inflammation, mood and overall well being. It really does just feel good..
What better place to try sauna therapy than the magical National Park, a place celebrated through ritual,mythology,lore and perhaps even magic going back thousands of years.
The Muckross Lake and area is situated on a geological fault called the 'Muckross to Millstreet Fault Line' The nearby Torc mountain which can be viewed from out panoramic wondow, consists of 400 million-year-old Devoniam Red Sandstone, but the base around Muckross Lake is circa 100 million years younger and consists of Carboniferous Limestone. At some stage, after the limestone was deposited, a period of tectonic-plate collision occurred and the land under Torc Mountain was lifted up 3,000 metres, re-exposing the underlying older sandstone
All of this is nature's creation which can be viewed through our panoramic window whilst sitting in the warmth and comfort of the sauna.
So grab your towel, your togs, a bottle of water and book your seat in the heat for a unique experience in nature.
Please allow 15 mins to walk to the sauna at Dundag. Park in Muckross Main Car Park. Leaving Muckross House front entrance, turn left across from the Horse & Carts. Keep walking past the Muckross Boathouse and the next turn right is to the Sauna at Dundag. It will be signposted.

How to get the most out of your sauna session:
- Sessions begin on the hour and half hour
- Bring a towel for sitting on
- Bring water for hydration
- Arrive 5/10 mins early especially for 25mins sessions
- Come in swimming gear
- Bare feet only in sauna
