Monastic Ruins & Temperate Woodlands & Waterfalls
The tour will depart from Reen Pier, Ross Castle at 10:00am, welcoming guests aboard for a scenic journey across the Lakes of Killarney.
Our first stop is the historic island of Inisfallen, where guests will disembark for a short visit to explore the island’s monastic ruins and soak in its tranquil atmosphere. This brief stop offers a meaningful connection to the area’s early history while remaining accessible to a broad range of participants.
From Inisfallen, the tour continues by boat to O’Sullivan’s Cascade, a hidden gem in the park. Here, guests will disembark and begin a guided 6km nature trail through the beautiful Tomies Wood. This walk follows woodland paths alongside lakeshore and river scenery, highlighting native flora, fauna, and the quieter corners of the National Park. The route is well suited to walkers seeking a rewarding but manageable trail as part of a festival experience.
At the conclusion of the walk, guests will be returned to Ross Castle.
The total duration of the experience is approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. This tour provides a distinctive, low-impact outdoor experience that aligns strongly with the Wander Wild Festival’s focus on nature, exploration, and local landscapes
