Board the bus at the Killarney Plaza hotel and it is there that the adventure begins.
Step into the enchanting woodlands of Killarney National Park for a guided walk filled with mystery, folklore, and breathtaking scenery. Wander past cascading waterfalls and ancient trees, as a storyteller brings the parks legends to life. Along the way, uncover the hidden secrets of this magical landscape before enjoying delicious refreshments at the historic Lord Brandons Cottage. A unique experience for all ages, where nature and storytelling come together innan unforgettable adventure.
Leaving behind the 120 years old Derrycunnihy church, the trail has a dramatic and descending start, down well- worn wooden steps into the lush and dense woodland. This 1.5 hour route (each way) meanders through ancient oak trees, across babbling brooks and through the ruins of abandoned famine homes. Soon you’ll meet a broader track, known as The Mass Path, which follows the shores of the Upper Lake, past abundant flora and fauna. If you're lucky, you may even glimpse one of the majestic White-Tailed Sea Eagles as they hunt. Arriving at Lord Brandon’s, a scenic lakeside spot which is home to a famed hunting lodge of olden days, you can soak up the views with some light refreshments.
Quality walking gear is recommended for this terrain, which is rough underfoot and prone to flooding in winter months.
