Mindful Embroidery Workshop
Mindful embroidery is the process of embroidering with the focus on being present and focusing on one stitch at a time. This can be either just focusing on the colours or the stitches, the direction of the stitches or simply just the process.
Hand embroidery allows your mind to rest and can significantly benefit mental health providing a calming and focussed activity. It is often described as a craft that has a ‘feel good factor’ due to its repetitive motions, tactile nature and its ability to promote mindfulness. It can help reduce stress, anxiety and negative thoughts while fostering a sense of accomplishment and creative expression.
This workshop is for adults who would like to explore intuitive stitching in a non-judgement space. No previous embroidery experience is required. Participants will learn several embroidery stitches which they will then apply to the cloth to create their own embroidery in a mindful process. Each participant will receive an embroidery pack which they will use in the workshop and can then take with them to continue the creative sewing process at home.
